We want to make sure that Oaktree and Oaktree’s work is having an incredible impact on extreme poverty and injustice for generations to come. In 2008 we asked that question – what can we do to secure our work into the future, and make sure that we’ll always be able to stand up for the most marginalised and disadvantaged in the world.
Our answer to that question was simple – what if we established a capital fund to secure our future. We would put enormous amounts of money into this fund, and when it reached a certain mark, we would be able to cover the administration costs of Oaktree indefinitely by using the interest earned off that money.
It was then that we formed the Oaktree Future Fund – with an initial target of $3 million. Since then we’ve raised over $800,000 for the fund thanks to some incredible support from our Future Fund Advisory Board and philanthropists and supporters around Australia.
