Stand Up 2010: September 17th – 19th
When world leaders gather at the United Nations for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Review Summit in September, the voices of their citizens will follow them, telling them, loudly and clearly: “We will no longer stay seated or silent in the face of poverty and the broken promises to end it!”
Here are some of the events you can attend to Stand Up to Poverty!
All day Friday, Saturday and Sunday (17th-19th September)
Giant ball chase around Sydney. Help get the ball rolling on 0.7% (there will even be an enormous soccer ball with 0.7% on it!) Find out more information here.
Saturday, 18th September, 12.30pm-2pm
Stand Up and make some noise! At First Fleet Park, Circular Quay. There’ll be speeches, stalls, music and performances. Find more information here.
Sunday, 19th September, 2pm-5pm
Giant soccer match! At Wentworth Park, Ultimo, an attempt at the world’s largest soccer match (or at the very least, a game with the world’s largest soccer ball)!! There’ll also be music, speakers and actions you take to remind the government that the goal is 0.7!
