Way up North Tammy and her crew have been super busy inspiring a diverse range of school students to make a difference. Tammy has been with Oaktree since 2010 and expertly manages full-time work with her role as QLD Schools 4 Schools State Manager. Next Semester, the QLD groups will organise an array of innovative fundraising activities with the guidance of some super talented mentors.
The Schools:
• Queensland Academy of Health Science (QAHS)
At QAHS, the well-established Oaktree group organise the ‘Race for Change.’ Part Amazing race, part scavenger hunt, all fun – the fundraiser challenges participants to complete an obstacle course in and around the school on a weekend day. This year will be the 2nd time QAHS students and teachers will stage the event.
• St Hildas School
St Hildas boasts an impressive attendance record. Each week approx. 45 students attend the meeting. In addition to a series of successful bake sales, the St Hilda’s students are looking forward to expanding their fundraising in Semester Two.
• Brisbane Girls Grammar School
In addition to the traditional bake sale idea, the students of Brisbane Girls Grammar School managed a very creative fundraising campaign in Semester One. Without the pandemonium associated with visits from actual celebrities, the students offered their peers an opportunity for a unique photo shoot with cardboard copies of the incredibly popular ‘One Direction’ band members.
• Marsden State High School
The Team at Marsden are relatively new to the S4S program. In Semester One, the group organised a pizza day and will facilitate ‘Marsden’s got talent’ in Semester Two. With plenty of enthusiasm for Australia’s recent stream of talent shows the event is certain to be a great success – maybe S4S Qld will uncover a budding Bieber?!
