Election 2010

During the election campaign, we’ll be working to ensure that the message of the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign and the plight of world’s poorest people is not forgotten. We’ll be asking people to consider the foreign aid policies of all major parties when they vote.

In Western Australia, we’re demonstrating community support by gathering signatures on massive MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY posters. We’ll then deliver the posters to candidates in creative ways. We’ll be doing this in 5 different electorates: Hasluck, Brand, Swan, Fremantle and Perth during the week August 7 to August 12.

Photos coming soon! To get involved contact Jody Lightfoot, j.lightfoot@theoaktree.org

Queensland

In Queensland, we’re focussing on Kevin Rudd’s electorate of Griffith. We’re touring a canvas round the electorate that people can “sign on to” by painting their hand print. It’s an innovative way to represent what we already know – there’s enormous support for the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign in Griffith. We’ll then deliver the canvas to Kevin Rudd.

Photos coming soon! Take action by attending the Griffith MDG Community Education Forum.
